How to Add Service & Materials (Price Book)

Add services and materials to your price book.

Create invoices and schedule jobs faster by adding your services and materials to your Price Book. The Price Book in your settings is where you can add default services and materials so that the details like the name, description, cost and price are already entered for you when adding line items to estimates, jobs, or invoices.

Your Price Book is also used when your customers are booking online. They'll be able to select from a particular set of services that you toggle on in your online booking settings.

Adding Services and Materials to your Price Book: Step-by-step Instructions

1. Get to your account settings by clicking the cogwheel icon found on the upper right-hand corner of any page.


2. Next, click the 'Price Book' tile under the Account Settings page.


3. You'll need to create categories before adding Services and Materials. Services and Materials both have their set of categories that will help you segment out Service and Material groups.

For instance, a plumbing company might have a category in Services and/or Materials for each one: Toilet Repair, Hot Water Heaters, Pipe Repair and Replacement, Drain Cleaning, etc.

To add a category, click on the 'New' button and select 'Category' from the list.

4. From there, select if this category will be under Materials or Services.


5. Next, give you category list a name and click 'add'.

After you have added a category, you'll see it the list of categories on the left hand side of your Price Book

6. After you have added one or all categories for you Service List and Material List, it's time to add Service and Material items.

Click on the 'New' button and select which item you would like to add: 'Service' or 'Material'.

7. Next, you'll pick the category and add the details of the Service or Material.

If you selected to add a Service Item, you'll only see categories for Services and same with choosing to add a Material Item.

Now, let's add the details of this Item.

A. Service or Material Name

B. Add the Price: This is the price you'll be charging for the service or material. (You can set this to 0)

C. Cost: This is your cost associated with the service. (You can set this to 0)

D. Unit Cost Type: This will be the unit cost type of the service.

E. Description: A general description of the service.

F: Image: This is where you can add an image of the service/material.

G. Taxable: Select if the item is taxable.

H. Assign a Color: This will make viewing the job type easier on the Calendar.


7. Review the Service or Material List Item and once you are done, click 'Save'.

You've just added your first item and now, when creating an invoice, job or estimate, you'll now see that service or material in the drop down to select from.

Selecting it will populate all the info!
