Tags turn a long list of customers into groups you can actually use. Tag customers as residential or commercial, by neighbourhood, by service or as VIPs, and you can pull up exactly the right people in seconds: to call before a storm, to offer a seasonal service, or to start an automatic campaign. Jobs, estimates and employees can be tagged too, so the office always knows what needs attention.
Set up your tags in Tags Manager
Click Settings, then Company Profile, then the Tags Manager tab.
The Tags Manager tab.
Customer Tags: click the group to open it and see your tags, with Add Tag at the bottom.
Each tag has a pencil to rename it and a bin to delete it.
Job Tags, Estimate Tags and Employee Tags work the same way.
Add a tag
Tag Name: keep it short and clear, such as VIP, Commercial, Northside or Gutter guards.
Click Save.
Tag a customer
Open any customer from Customers. Their tags show under their name at the top of the page.
The Tags box on the customer page: click it to pick from your tags.
The customer's tags. Click the x on a tag to take it off.
Jobs and estimates have a Tags box too, in the details when you create them and on the job or estimate page.
Find everyone with a tag
On Customers, pick one or more tags in Select tags. The list shows only customers with those tags.
Use Select All and Actions to act on all of them at once, for example to add another tag.
Tag customers automatically from the price book
Open a service or material in your Price Book and add Customer tags. Every customer who buys it is tagged automatically, so your list sorts itself: everyone who bought "Gutter Cleaning" gets the Gutter tag without anyone lifting a finger.
Put tags to work
Automatic campaigns by tag. A Custom Campaign can start the moment a tag is added (or removed). Tag a customer "Interested in lawn care" and a matching follow-up starts on its own.
Keep people out of campaigns. Every campaign can skip customers with a tag such as "Do not market".
Seasonal pushes. Filter to everyone tagged "Window cleaning" in spring and send them a gutter offer.
Flag work that needs attention. Tag estimates "Urgent" or jobs "Callback" so the office can find them fast.
Tips
Plan a short list. Ten clear tags beat fifty overlapping ones. Agree on names with your team.
Tag as you go. Add tags when you create a customer or job, not months later.
Use the price book to tag by service automatically, and save tagging by hand for things only you know, such as VIP.
